Welcome to Integrative-Wellness. Thank you for visiting the site. This is my very first ever blog 🙂 My business is all about taking charge of your health and healing from within. It all starts with understanding through education which hopefully blooms into awareness and motivation to takes the necessary steps to change and transform our health span, happiness, vitality.
We are very complex beings with all biosystems interconnected. For optimal wellness we need to focus on whole person care- mind, body and spirit as they are all intimately intertwined. I have grown to appreciate the power of universal energy and that of mother nature. Every cell, tissue, organ, and being, is made of energy. The plants, ourselves, the planet and universe are all energetically interconnected. Throughout our journey together you will come to better understand health and wellness as an integration of various life force energies for the mind, body and spirit to be in balance.
I would like to begin this first blog by explaining the symbolism of the images and colors I chose for my website. Through my education as a yoga therapist, I learned about the energy centers (Chakras) in our body. The first 3 chakras are earthly, and the upper one are more ethereal. The colors used on the website reflect the upper energy centers of the body. I have chosen green as it represents the heart chakra. As an empath, I often feel my heart strings pull. I am sensitive, humble and have much love to offer. I have also experienced deep heartfelt loss, pain and grief as many of my patients have. Next, I have incorporated blue which represents the throat chakra because I always strive to speak my truth and be open and honest. Finally, the purple color represents intuition and spirituality. I am a spiritual being and look to support the soulful essence in others.
The images chosen: The home page of a white lotus flower was chosen as white represents purity, and in medicine cleanliness or sterility. The lotus flower is symbolic for strength, resilience and rebirth. It produces gorgeous blooms while growing in dirty often unpleasant waters. As the delicate petals emerge it is a reminder that beauty is possible even in the darkest places. This symbolism reflects the body’s amazing ability to transform from illness to wellness. As a lover of nature and believer in the power that she offers, I then chose images of nature e.g. the forest, flower, waterfall, ocean, sun and colorful whole foods as these are all energetically nourishing for the body, mind and spirit. The balanced stone image represents the importance of balance in all aspects of life. Lastly, the dragonfly. Dragonflies begin their life as a water bug than transform into a flying insect for a short lifespan before they die. Thus, the dragonfly represents the loss of my parents in the prime of their lives as a result of a car accident and the unexpected tragic death of one of my triplets just after graduating high school. Every time I see a dragonfly flying beautifully in the air, lighting briefly then taking off again, it reminds me of my family and hoping that their spirit is happy and free. In many cultures, dragonflies represent resilience and adaptability. Because the dragonfly changes form throughout its life, it represents becoming your true self through transformation. Many of my cancer patients have identified “gifts” of their cancer experience being that of resilience and transforming their life in many positive, meaningful ways. For some, their cancer has helped them to appreciate what is truly important in their life’s journey. Life is multifaceted, complex and mysterious. It is unpredictable and every changing. We must learn to navigate the highs and lows, good times and bad, being mindful of the lessons that can be learned from life’s challenges and develop gratitude for what we have. My wish for you is that you will practice self-love, develop curiosity about life and living, cultivate the ability to be in the present moment, find some joy in everyday life.
Be well!
